Most Useful analog/digital Data Transfer Cable Formats

While multimedia entertainment market emerging as one of the leading markets in last year, demand for various important cable products is also increasing rapidly. There are plenty of products available for use with audio and video multimedia entertainment products.

Most popular analog video cables include S-Video cable, component video cable, coaxial R-F cable and component cable. Coaxial RF cable is primarily used with antennas and VCR products. Other AV applications such as DVD players and TV sets also make use of coaxial RF cable technology. Coaxial RF format is pretty outdated now and is known to provide worst quality audio/video data transfer. Due to high lag and interference defects, it is now used only as a backup method of analog data transfer.

Composite cable is used in DVD players, VCRs and similar A/V devices. Even though composite cable doesn’t provide highest quality transmission, it is commonly used with video cards and TV hardware. S-Video is a comparatively newer format with 4-pin connectors that are capable of transmitting high definition video signals to TV/DVR/DVD recorders or compatible A/V devices.

Component video cable format is primarily known for its reach in Dvd Player market and its usability. Component video cable provides you excellent quality video transmission in great detail and color depth. This format is considered to be far better than others like S-Video and RF formats. Dedicated component video inputs are required for getting high definition inputs on compatible A/V instruments such as DVD players, recorders and DVRs.

Some people also prefer to use cable converters to interchange cable formats so that their compatibility can be enhanced. DVI cables and HDMI cables are the two most widely used cable formats in digital entertainment media. While these two cable formats are capable of high definition data transfer, they can also carry excellent quality sound signal.
